An inflatable arch that is too small gets lost in the crowd. One that is too big may not fit the road, gate or hall. Picking the right size is simple if you follow a few steps before you place the order.
Step 1: Measure the clear width
Measure the full width of the road, gate or entrance where the arch will stand. The inside opening of the arch should be wide enough for people, vehicles or runners to pass comfortably. Then add the thickness of both legs of the arch to get the outside width.
Keep at least 1 to 2 feet of free space on each side for ropes and stakes.
Step 2: Check the height
Look up before you decide the height. Trees, electric wires, signboards, ceilings and lights can all limit how tall the arch can be. For indoor venues, check the ceiling height and any hanging lights or trusses.
Step 3: Think about who passes under it
- Runners and walkers: a wide opening so groups can pass without crowding at the start line.
- Vehicles: enough height for buses or trucks if they will pass under it.
- Store entrances: a smaller arch that frames the door without blocking it.
Step 4: Plan the branding area
The top beam of the arch is where most branding goes. A wider arch gives you a bigger top beam, so your logo and message can be read from further away. If your logo is long or you have many sponsors, choose a wider square arch, since its flat top gives more printable space than a curved arch.
Step 5: Consider wind and anchoring
Larger arches catch more wind. For outdoor events, plan proper anchoring with stakes on soft ground or sand bags and water weights on hard surfaces. On very windy days, a slightly smaller arch can be the safer choice.

- Marathons and cycling events: wide start and finish arches, often with a timing clock area.
- Store launches: compact entrance arches that fit the shop front.
- Exhibitions: arches sized to the stall or hall entry.
- Sports events: player entry tunnels and branded arches.
